Welcome to DARJEELING

The queen of the hills is a Himalayan city in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is internationally renowned as a tourist destination in the country, for its spectacular view of Mt. Kanchandzonga, along with its tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. One can have the view of entire Singalila Range along with Mt. Kanchandzonga, Bhutan Himalaya and a part of Everest range from Darjeeling. The eye catching valleys, meandering rivers and of course the lush green tea gardens are the unique features of Darjeeling. Beside all these the main attractions of this popular hill stations are Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Himalayan Zoological park, Tiger Hill, Rock Garden, Batasia Loop. Darjeeling is famous throughout the world for the tea it grows and the great view of the Kanchenjunga range of mountains that it offers.  The hill rises from the `Terai` and ‘Dooars` plain of Bengal and reaches an altitude of more than 12,000 feet. Three divisions of the district, namely Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Kurseong constitute the hilly areas and the Siliguri subdivision is in the plains.

Welcome to KALIMPONG

At an altitude of 1250m, this tranquil hill station is located on top of a ridge on the east of river Teesta. Kalimpong is known for its educational institutions many of which were established during the British colonial period. It used to be a gateway in the trade between Tibet and India prior to China’s annexation of Tibet and the Sino-Indian War.

The town is famous for its indigenous handicraft. The artisans here produce Tibetan and Bhutanese handicraft and jewellery such as woodcarvings, copperware like feng-sui bells, tapestry bags, scrolls, paintings and Tibetan jewellery.

Kalimpong has a beautiful and breathe taking tourist points like, pine view nursery (world famous nursery) Delo Hill (one can enjoy the horse ride, Paragliding, and enjoy the spectacular view of Kanchenjunga) Durpin Monastery, Golf course, Mangal Dham, Munsong Valley and Buddha Park, are some of the tourist attraction places to visit in Kalimpong.

MEGHALAYA

The meaning of the word Meghalaya is the ‘Abode of Clouds’. Meghalaya is a North-Eastern State of India, its capital is Shillong. The word ‘alaya’ means abode, and ‘Megha’ means ‘clouds’ in Sanskrit, hence, the meaning of Meghalaya is the ‘abode of ‘clouds. It was formed from two districts of Assam in 1972.

Assam is the state of India.
